Show Notes

Our reflections and learnings in our careers have shown up here and there in different episodes, but let’s take some time to spotlight ourselves! In this episode, we’re doing a deep dive into Sophia’s career as a product manager. Some of you may be familiar with the term product manager, some of you not so much, so this is the TIME that we get to learn as much as possible and get to know what Sophia spends 40+ hours of her week outside of the podcast doing.

Sophia shares all of the good, the challenging, the rewarding moments of product management, answering our questions like:

  • How would you define “product manager”?
  • How do you navigate being a young, new, WOC PM? How do you make sure you’re not undermined by someone simply because they have more years on the team than you?
  • What are some challenges that come with being a PM that you wouldn’t know just from reading the job description?
  • In your opinion, how important is it for a prospective PM to care about the product versus have the transferable skills of relationship building, communicating effectively, etc.?
  • What is the motivation behind changing teams (and also, changing teams within the same company)?
